Residential Trip 2014 - Wednesday

Good Morning all! Another quiet night here at Folly Farm.  Today we are on site all day taking part in bushcraft activities.  Let's see if we can separate our Ray Mears from our...not so Ray Mears.

-----------

An early morning walk just for me - everyone else was too tired to make the 7.30am start(!) and what a beautiful morning to be up and outdoors.

Lunch-making and bedroom checks completed and we were off into the woods for our Bushcraft activities. Everyone set to with gusto to collect fallen branches for shelter building. The scheduled showers were late so a little man-made testing was undertaken to test the 'weather-proofness' of the structures. Lunch next before building and lighting campfires. These were ready just in time as the clouds rolled in and the temperature dropped. The children proved to be very able fire starters(!) and were quickly underway toasting marshmallows.

Back to Folly Farm and we learnt how to dissect owl pellets to uncover what they had eaten for dinner.

And then we had our own dinner!

After a lovely roast meal we were out again to test our senses in the great outdoors, before a night-time drink and off to bed.

The biggest disappointment of the day? Liverpool losing 3-0 at home, but that's another story!
